Director - Dr. Michael Pushkarewicz

Dr. Michael Pushkarewicz is an 18-year Delawarean and resides in Pike Creek.  He worked as an orthopedic surgeon and partner with First State Orthopedics for 19 years after leaving private solo practice in PA.  He is now enjoying traveling and volunteering as he celebrates retirement.  Dr. P stays busy as a District Captain for COS, an organization that advocates for Term Limits, Balanced Budgets, and limiting government overreach through the Constitutional Amendment process outlined in Article 5 of the U.S. Constitution.

Dr. P views politics today as dysfunctional, hyperpolarized and combative, with too many voters seeing two extreme options and choosing the lesser of two evils or choosing not to register with any party.

He’s an Independent because he believes the Government Reforms needed to heal our system will not arise from the extremes of the two major parties - and knows we can do better.

In his free time Dr. P enjoys lifelong learning such as studying the Bible, learning multiple foreign languages using DuoLingo, becoming a better chess player, and most recently learning to fly.  Other activities include taking friends boating, skiing, tennis/pickleball, trying to stay fit at the gym, and bicycling, especially on the Boardwalk alongside the ocean or along the C&D Canal path.

His political areas of interest are upholding our amazing Constitution gifted to us by our wise and prescient Founding Fathers and helping to grow Delaware’s third largest party, the Independent Party of Delaware, into a Major Party.

He wants anyone considering joining IPoD to know that there is a growing alternative for the hundreds of thousands of Delawareans who have chosen “no party” rather than registering as Red or Blue.
