Member At Large, Senior Advisor - Wolf von Baumgart

Wolfgang “Wolf” von Baumgart exhibited scientific curiosity at a very early age and is naturally a self-taught, hands-on, transdisciplinary, outside of the box, problem-solving type of guy.  Starting with a chemistry set in third grade, he eventually did undergraduate work in oscillating chemical reactions, chemical information theory, laser chemistry and developed an alternative formula to treat poison ivy, oak and sumac.  He also has intense interests in environmental science, alternative energy, maritime archaeology, history, philosophy, geopolitics, international relations, government reform, linguistics and semantics.

He first received an invitation to join the party in 1998 two years before it attained ballot status and strongly suggested that it be named the Independent Party of Delaware (IPoD) for its memorability and essential description.  After serving as Sussex County co-ordinator of the IPoD 2020 gubernatorial campaign, he was appointed Sussex County Chairman in 2002, elected State Secretary in 2004 and subsequently State Chairman for three consecutive terms. He eventually moved to the position of Secretary-General and also served as State Treasurer. He currently serves as a senior adviser and board member at-large on the IPoD State executive committee.

A resident of Delaware since 1985, he has worked in construction, water pollution control and radio broadcasting in various formats, including classical music, urban contemporary, adult contemporary, and news/talk.  He is currently a book editor, and his first edit earned four and a half stars on Amazon.  Before joining the IPoD, he was Sussex County Coordinator of A Delaware Party, Media Coordinator of United WE Stand and Vice-Chairman and Press Secretary of the Delaware Marine Archaeological Society (having been the principal author of the Beach Plumb Island Shipwreck Survey accepted by the World Archaeological Congress as a work of avocational archaeology).

Wolf has also drafted various proposed legislation, including a prototype Inspector General bill in 2007 and a proposed amendment limiting the Governor’s duration of emergency powers without General Assembly approval shortly after the spread of COVID-19.  He has worked on various campaigns, by freely providing a wide variety of communication services including strategy, media releases, radio commercial scripts, literature and website design.

He looks forward to helping build the party for many years to come by working on bringing about a paradigm shift in defense of freedom and liberty.
